What if the two products use different units?
No problem. Each is normalized to its own unit, and the comparison uses normalized per-unit values (e.g. per gram).
Is the bigger package always cheaper?
Often, but not always — "bulk" discounts vary. The unit price calculation removes the guesswork.
How do I compare by weight vs by count?
Pick grams/kg for one and pieces for the other, then judge whether per-piece or per-weight value matters more for your use.
Does it include sales tax?
No — enter the prices as you see them. If tax differs, add it to the price fields first.
Practical Example
A 12-pack of soda for $5.00 costs $5.00 / 12 = $0.417 per piece, about $0.42 each. An 8-pack at $3.60 works out to $3.60 / 8 = $0.45 per piece. The 12-pack is the better value — roughly 7% cheaper per can — even though it costs more overall.
