How to Use This Calculator

Pick two dates and the tool counts every day between them. Perfect for project deadlines, anniversaries, tenure and travel planning.

  • The result is inclusive of start day, exclusive of end day — the standard "days between" convention.
  • Enter either date as the earlier one; the tool handles both directions.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are the days inclusive?

The difference counts full 24-hour periods. "From Jan 1 to Jan 2" gives 1 day, matching how most booking and HR systems work.

How are months calculated?

The "years, months, days" breakdown uses calendar months directly — so Feb 15 to Mar 15 is exactly 1 month.

What if I enter the dates in reverse?

The result shows the absolute difference, so it works either way. You'll see the same number of days.

Does it count leap days?

Yes — the calculation uses real calendar days, so February 29 counts when it falls between the dates.

Practical Example

From January 1, 2026 to January 1, 2027 is 365 days — exactly 52 weeks plus 1 day — because 2026 is not a leap year. Because the count is exclusive of the end date, the result shows 365, not 366. The years, months, days breakdown reads 1 year, 0 months, 0 days.

  • Enter February 15 to March 15, 2026 to see a 1-month span that counts as 1 calendar month even though February is short.

What Your Results Mean

  • Total days — the number of full 24-hour periods between the two dates, counting leap days when they fall inside the span.
  • Weeks / months / years — the same span expressed in calendar units for quick comparison.
  • Years, months, days — the calendar-month breakdown, so Feb 15 to Mar 15 shows exactly 1 month.
