Why is my crop area fixed at a ratio?

Practical Example
Say your camera shot is 4000x3000 (a 4:3 photo) and you want a square 1:1 avatar. Pick the "1:1 (Square)" preset, drag the blue box over the part of the face you want to keep, then click Crop. The output is a 1:1 square at full source resolution — nothing is downscaled — ready to export as PNG or WebP.

What Your Results Mean
